One of the largest and most involved limestone restoration projects we've completed to date was carried out in Austrey.
Started before the kitchen was installed, the works covered both entrance areas, the kitchen and the utility room. The limestone had suffered from surface etching, uneven tiles (lippage) and isolated areas of damage that required specialist repair.
The project began with the removal of all existing grout lines throughout the floor. From our grout sample swatch, the customer chose the 'Jasmine' shade as the replacement grout colour. This allowed us to replace five damaged limestone tiles and carry out colour-matched resin repairs to cracks identified during the survey stage.
Using metal-bond diamond abrasives, we mechanically ground the limestone to remove lippage and surface etching. Unlike cleaning, this process physically removes a fine layer of stone, creating a flatter and more uniform surface. During the grinding stages, a limestone-specific densifier was applied to harden and consolidate the stone.
The floor was then progressively refined using resin-bond diamond abrasives, with each stage removing the scratch pattern from the previous grit and further enhancing the natural appearance of the limestone.
To complete the restoration, the floor was deep cleaned and neutralised before being refined up to 1,800 grit. The chosen finish was a satin sheen, offering a subtle level of reflection rather than a high-gloss finish.
The final stage was the application of a professional impregnating stone sealer to provide water and stain resistance across the surface
Works carried out included:

These wood worktops in Finedon needed a lot of preparation before we could even think about sanding.
Years of use had left them with worn finishes, uneven colouring and black moisture staining. The existing coatings had built up over time, so they first had to be carefully hand-scraped away before the sanding process could begin.
Once back to bare wood, we sanded through a range of grits to return the wood's natural appearance before finishing with Treatex Hardwax Oil Ultra. A food-safe protective finish that penetrates the wood rather than sitting on top of it.
💡 When restoring kitchen worktops, choosing the right finish is just as important as the preparation. Hardwax oils are ideal because the majority are food-safe and can be spot repaired if damage occurs in the future. Many lacquer finishes are not suitable for food preparation areas and form a surface film that can crack or wear over time. Once that protective layer is breached, moisture and dirt can penetrate beneath it, leading to further deterioration.
