One of the most interesting things about traditional stone floors is that the colour you see before cleaning isn't necessarily the stone's original colour.
Years of foot traffic and accumulated grime can disguise the natural tones of flagstones. Previous coatings can also alter their appearance.
A thorough clean followed by a suitable colour-enhancing sealer can reveal much more of the stone's natural variation.
For these downstairs floors in Burbage, we carried out a deep clean to remove the dirt, followed by neutralisation before finishing with a sealer.
To finish, we applied Faber P147 Plus, a solvent-based, colour-enhancing sealer that:
✅ Enhances the natural colour of the stone
✅ Helps protect against staining
✅ Penetrates the stone without forming an artificial surface film, allowing it to remain breathable
The difference was clear, with a much brighter appearance and the natural tones and variations now standing out again.

Following our previous showcase of the stunning maple floor, we're delighted to present the exquisite Old English oak flooring throughout Higham Hall.
The project required a two-man team to meticulously sand and refinish approximately 144 sqm of flooring, employing a rigorous restoration process to achieve the results on this historic floor.
The restoration involved several stages:
✅ Progressive sanding – Working through various grits to remove the existing coatings and prepare for refinishing.
✅ Dust-controlled sanding – Using our professional sanding equipment with H-class dust extraction to capture fine wood dust and maintain a cleaner working environment.
✅ Water popping – Raising the grain to help the oak develop greater depth of colour before the oil was applied.
✅ Oil finishing – Applying Arboritec Miracle Oil, a two-component, 100% solid oil that enhances the natural timber of the oak while providing a durable, protective finish.
